I had two broken when I took mine in to get the Banks headers and exhaust installed. They broke another 4 getting the old manifolds off. When i saw how much work went into the removal and install, I didn't mind coughing up the $900. Save up for at least headers and y-pipe, you'll be glad you did.

I would be interested to know what they would charge for the studs, as they have all the TSB supplies, tools and procedures.
No really... mechanic said 8 hrs no matter what. He knows I have 2 broke already and more are probably going to break. I guess this guy is pretty good to me. Maybe it helps I gave him one of snowseekers hub zerks. Haha

The peace of mind after putting in the banks is well worth the money, paid install or otherwise.

At very least when you replace the broken manifold bolts, use a new high quality gasket. The bad part though is you might find you have more broken studs.

To those with Banks : I gave up on headers 20 years ago ( $50 headman ) . Never experienced anything but problems and no noticeable gains of any kind.
On the V-10 what benefits are you seeing to offset the $2500 expense ( header & install ) Thanks Harley

A coworker of mine replaced his studs. He started by cutting the studs through the manifolds (ruins the manifold) but leaves enough of the stud to grip for "ease" of removal. Just a thought, actual mileage may vary!

What the heck did he use to cut through the manifold

From my $850 Banks headers I have seen a slight MPG improvement (less than 1 MPG) and better throttle response throughout the entire RPM range. There is definitely more power being delivered with the headers from the better breathing they provide, this was pretty obvious when it would hold OD deeper into the throttle climbing grades pulling the Travel trailer. I'm sold on their benefits and I'm $1650 ahead of your cost estimate!
Theses tubes definitely flow much better than the restrictive factory manifolds.

I agree with Tom, we love our Banks headers. They have thick tubes and flanges and won't crack like cheap headers.

Never had one crack ?? Just could not keep gaskets in them, PLUS ALWAYS a PITA to install.. I'm glad you love them & I do understand the quality difference ( I have SS Thorlys on my Sammy Super ZUK ) . On the 6.8, It just seems like a little to much jack for not enough gain 1/2 MPG . UNLESS you had to replace the logs anyway. BUT that's why I asked the question on what benefits those running them have seen as well as there is a possible group buy on them in the future.
PS: $850.00 aint the whole picture....

It was the whole picture for me, plus some of my time. Time which I haven't convinced anyone to pay me for otherwise, so it doesn't have a cash value. I already had all of the tools needed, except the left hand twist bits, which didn't get lucky and spin any studs out, so no real additional costs for my installation. There is no super technical or highly specialized equipment needed for the install, just simple hand tools and patience.

Do the performance gains make up for price tag, and the weekend I put into doing it? No, not really. Even if I had gotten a screamin' deal like Tom did, it still wouldn't have made up the difference. However, I like them and it was a fun (yet frustrating) project. Like the C/X code swap, it feels like a right of passage. Knowing that my broken exhaust manifold bolts are now corrected is worth it to me.

Maybe one day I'll meet another person who has done the Banks Header upgrade on their V-10 and I'll be able to shake his/her hand and know that that person is a determined and hard working person ready, and willing, to tackle getting down, dirty, and close to vehicle that with the V-10 nestled between its fenders.
