I just ordered a new (hated to pay full price, but better to know it works then have to keep trying) turn signal switch. I hope it gets here by the 5th so I can hope it works. Thanks for all the help.
ok, i went through the same thing last week with mine! what a pain in the ---, heres a link to the thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...readid=145967, i finally got mine all fixed up by bending the wires around under the turn signal cam
ok, this is getting rediculous!!...
Anyone want to figure with my why NOW my turn signals dont work AFTER I have replaced the WHOLE turn signal switch AND the relay????
I have traced the wires as far as I can to the battery, but I have not found a broken connection. I apreciate the help and
"am driving the wife's Volvo til I fix this"...
I had a similar problem in my 79 F-150, it turned out the original light bulb sockets were worn, and the bulbs kept moving inside the socket. I replaced both sockets, (about $5 each) and haven't had any problems since. Just another possibility for you to check. Good luck
I have a 78 F250 Ranger that runs great, cab is in rough shape and my electrical is driving me bananas. Front lights all work fine, turn signals in rear are messed up. I turn the lights on and use a turn signal, my lights in the rear act as hazards but my hazard flasher doesn't go on. Also when I turn all the lights off, occasionally just my rear tail lights come on, WHEN THE F'IN LIGHTS ARE OFF! I'd appreciate any input1! Drewbiz
drewbiz, part of your problem sounds like bad grounds in the rear. With the bulbs out of the tail lights use a test light and check the contacts in the sockets for correct operation. Also, your brake light switch could be sticking on.
super, check your post in the electrical forum as this one has been hijacked and it's getting hard to keep things separated.
macguyver thanks for responding! Still no rear turn signals though. Don't know what to do now, I also have no instrument panel just speedo. Any more ideas out there?
drewbiz do the rear markers work? do the hazards work with the hazard switch? when you hit the brake and a turn signal on either side do they work correctly? post a little more info
in the front all works fine, in the rear sometimes they work when lights aren't onbut with lights turned on they flash like hazards do and yes hazards work fine
ranger, I bought a new signal flasher and that seemed to help until I started engine. Now fronts work fine and rears are going crazy. It all depends if I turn lights on or not. Brake lights seem to be ok but turn the lights on and hit a turn signal and all lights in rear flash like hazards. Thanks for your time
that definetly sounds like a ground problem, each taillight in the back has it's own seperate ground. it is a screw that is screwed directly into the bed panel. pull it out and sand down the area around it to get a good ground
Ranger, I failed to tell you this before (Ihad my 6 mo old daughter in my arms trying to reply earlier), but the tail lights on this truck are custom. This Ranger has a custom steel flat bed with roll bars. There are 11 lights in total on the rear(2 side markers and the rest tail, brake and reverse), they are just about new with plug in feeds to each one, consisting of a positive, negative and aground. I checked them all and all is good, 2 things boggled me. 1 is that the reverse lights don't use the ground, its not in the plug its cut and taped up.2 is all the feeds go into a junction box mounted under the bed along with the electrical for the tow hitch. I also found some water sitting in one of tail lights and of course you can't take the cover off to pour it out. Does this problem with the rear lights pertain to the problem with my dash?
uhmmm i doubt it, so when you turn your running lights on your brake and turn act up? when the running lights are off do they work correctly? have you checked inside the junction box to look for any wires that are touching a terminal they should not be? tell me what happens when you turn a signal and brake at the same time, what happens with brakes only? what about turn signal only?
it is hard to diagnos over a computer but i'll do my best
