2008 Power Steering Pump Issue

I am being told that the power steering pump for the 2007-2010 6.8's are no longer being made, period. I was told by one ford dealer that you can't even order a reman from ford and they would have to get a reman from NAPA.

Another big Ford dealer says they CAN get a reman from Ford. the same dealer says that the power steering pump for the same year 5.4 and 6.8 are very different. My local "used parts" dealer says his book notes that both engines have the same pump. I looked at his and looked at mine and the sure look the same to me. Reman is $144 and used from an 89,000 mile engine is $60.

Please someone help me figure this out. Thanks.

Is there a bracket that's different for the V10 versus the 5.4 and that's why the dealer doesn't think the pump is "being made" anymore?

Very strange that Ford stops supplying a part for a truck that's only 5-6 years old.

There COULD be a difference in the pully, being 6-groove versus 8 for the V10.

It all sounds very fishy
