What Code Reader to use?
It has been really hot in Georgia the last few weeks. About two weeks ago I noticed that my Temp was running a little cooler than normal. In the past it would read from the "R to M". But, the other day it was reading in the "N or O" area. I drive one way to work around 7 miles so I just figured the thermostat failed open. So I changed the coolant, Thermostat and bleed the air out.
No change. Reading still in the "N to O" range. Truck doesn't suffer from anything. Doesn't appear to be over heating at all.
Just thought I would throw that in there as well.
So I am thinking mechanical. The other day after driving for awhile I got out and touched both front wheels, they were both hot. Breaks dragging? Both at the same time? I live in the hills and put the truck on a small grade and put the truck in neutral. Truck seemed to move fine but with a heavy truck I would guess a small amount dragging breaks wouldn't make a difference. And, both breaks dragging at the same time sounds weird. I had a caliper go bad on the front of my jeep but it was just one not both.
Is there a way maybe the proportioning valve is bad for the front breaks and causing them to drag?
Would my truck move in neutral on a small grade if the breaks were dragging?
I notice a small shimmy when I lightly apply the breaks but goes away when using them normally to stop. Not sure if one has to do with the other.
As always I really appreciate the info this is a great place for the shade tree like me.
