Hey Nick! Thanks for checking in on us. Wish I could say we have made fabulous progress but instead must admit that things went pretty much to a standstill. The AZ heat really zapped me this year and the thought of going out and working in it just didn't appeal to me. Finally has cooled down here over the last few weeks so hopefully, we can get rolling again. We have a space issue right now and are trying to find a place to move the parts pile so that we can make room for the cab. Our hope is to get it removed so that we can get what's left of the engine and transmission out and then work on getting the frame cleaned up. My son is taking a class in high school now that gives him access to a paint booth, so we were hoping to start getting some clear coat on some of the parts in manageable chunks. Hopefully, we will get into the swing of things soon.

Ok, my son and I are about ready to remove the cab from the frame. Quick question, what how do we remove the shifter? There is a "cap" at the top where the shifter (stick) enters the top of the transmission. I found some pics online that suggest that is just threaded on? Is that correct?

Cap threads off then the stick lifts out.

When you are pulling it out, be aware of the pin holding the lever in the base.

Hey Moe! We haven't done much since things cooled down. Just finished my sons elk hunt and now need to focus on Christmas. I will try to get some pics of where things stand now. And yes, we should get together.

I get the patina thing; but you want a solid base for the body and frame. I'd replace all the rot, salvage what you can of original look and try to reproduce a patina look with paint ? I've seen some articles in magazines that look fairly close. MHO. The key is enjoying the process with your son. priceless.

Advice flows like cheap beer at a frat party.

I will be following this build with interest.
