272 in my 1960 F100 decided to blow both head gaskets. Was going to do a rebuild and discovered some jackass PO had filled the block and head full of Bar's. Block and heads are so clogged they are pretty much done. Also found some bits in the oil pan from a previous iteration that grenaded. Explains why my radiator was so full of junk.
Gonna start over with a 55 292. This is by no means a big $$ build but I don't mind doing things right so I can bolt on some power later. Any suggestions on what I should use?
Some pics of the 272

Are you sure it is a 272ci, because the Last of the 272s were installed in '57.
Production run was '54-'57 here in the U.S. in Trucks.
God only know's what happened to the original 292 block. Block we pulled out was an ECG block which was housing a set of 292 pistons bored 40 over. ECG is a 272 casting so pretty sure there wasn't much meat left on that block. Water passages were so clogged up with bars and rust, we just opted to find a new block. Currently working on a 1955 292 and taking the best parts of each to build a new motor.
We found bits of a previous build in the oil pan, and since the crank we pulled out is cast, my best guess is they got the 272 from a car, and used what was left of the original 292 to make it work in the truck.
