Increase Tire Size

Hi Guys,

My 2006 Expo King Ranch has 265 70 R17's on it and it's time to get new tires. Will moving up to a 285 70 R17 cause problems with the antilock brake system or 4wd system?

No, you're only concern to watch out for is tire to fender clearance both when bouncing and when turning. Of course your speedometer will read slow, so you might want to get that recalibrated.

Thanks Alloro, I did the same thing on my 1997 Expo and had no problems, but it was older and not 4wd!

If you decrease the profile to 285/65R17, you will get a near identical circumference, and only a wider tire. According to what I've read, this works fine without any rubbing issues and no issues with speedometer or anything.
