Hi all -
Please see photo and de-code when convenient, thanks. Just picked this up yesterday. Sold to me as all original vehicle, looks as though it could be.
Thanks. How can I pick out the paint code, interior, original axle ratio, etc.? Or is that not possible simply form the VIN tag?
The picture you posted is the paper federal cert sticker on the driver's door jamb. Look on the back edge of the driver's door, below the latch, you should have a metal warranty plate riveted on. That will have paint and trim codes, axle and other info.
Note, quite often it's painted over, but looking at the picture you posted, it doesn't look like your truck has been repainted.
Here ya go, thanks for checking this out for me. I know the front axle is Dana 44 High Pinion, rear is Dana 60. This truck looks to be 100% original so far...who knew..!!

The assembly line worker at FoMoCo that stamped the codes on the 2nd line, did a p!ss poor job. The codes were stamped sooo far to the right, that there's no place for the AXLE code.
133" Wheelbase.
B = Dark Jade Metallic.
F265 = F250 4WD Pickup .. 8,100 lbs. GVWR
DR4: DR = Jade all Vinyl / 4 = Styleside Pickup.
A = New Process 435 4 Speed Manual Transmission.
AXLE:
8,100 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
1977.
11 = Boston MA Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

Thanks Bill. Yes, that was near the end of the once magnificent Mahwah Ford Plant. Things got a little sloppy at the end...lol. I think the tags are still on the axle covers!! So I will get some de-greaser and pressure wash tomorrow, see what we got. All the best...
You can also get a reproduction door tag made from your VIN that would presumably include the missing info: Marti Auto Works - Marti Report
Thanks for that info. We'll see how far into this one I want to get. I initially purchased it for modifying my 64 - the power steering and brake system. Now Ive sort of fallen in love with it so I'm on the fence if I want to part it out or not. Ford-itis is a costly illness..

Yeah, dents have that effect on people.
If you do decide to keep her, Marti's work is excellent. I had my warranty plate reproduced and its perfect. You can also get the rivets for it and he also reproduces the federal cert sticker.
I've seen the rivets listed on his site ... how do those install? They're clearly not pop-rivets, but is there a special tool for them, or what?
Actually it's pretty simple, no special tools are needed.
Look at the picture of the rivets, you'll see the center is dome shaped and there are four cuts around the edge.
To install the rivet you use a 3/16" diameter rod, punch, or something similar. Install the warranty plate, insert the rivets in the holes and take the punch and tap the dome flat. This expands the rivet out, locking it in place.
Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated. The axles are 3:54 ratio, Dana 44 High Pinion front and of course Dana 60 Rear. After a good going over today, we will be unfortunately parting this one out and not restoring. The 351 has marbles in the bottom and clatters in the rockers once it gets warmed up, and the radiator went today. It drives, steers and stops but too far gone with body rot, missing or damaged interior items, etc. Bummer. I'll post in appropriate forum when I have list of parts for sale.
