I get pulled over all the time, probably because of my tailgate (see the tailgaters thread). No tickets, just harassment. Once an officer thought that I had stolen the truck apparently because I didn't come to a complete stop at a stop sign (california roll, as its called around here). She got out and asked for my liscence and insurance. She then started searching the lower windshield for the VIN. Boy howdy, she thought she had one when it wasn't there. When I told her that it was in the door, she didn't bileve me and made me stick my hands out the window, and she tried to open the door, but it was locked, so I had to unlock it. She checked everything out, and when she shut the door, my leg was in it. Now I know how Rodney King feels...
I have found that if you are not breaking the law then you will not get pulled over.
Absolutely, completely, and utterly false. I average 1-2 stops PER WEEK driving a wrecker. The record was 3 times in 4 days, in the same truck, by the same cop (a Sergeant in a Trans Am). No tickets, because he was simply harassing me, as usual. I was pulled over on New Years day in my F-350. I still don't know why--he threatened to arrest my wife & me if I didn't "shut my ******* f****** mouth and do as he says". i called to report it...there was no record. Either he never called it in, or they simply buried it.
I havn't been pulled over in years but I've had them(cops) have thier guns pointed at my head. Was I scared, you damn well better believe it. Look in thier eyes and ya could see how they wanted to pull that trigger. I won't even get into the stupid reason I was pulled over. I,m then and now a law abiding citizen. I try to stay away from them now adays.

THe problem stems from a police culture that has been allowed to flourish in this country: A very Military-esque "Us against them" attitude, whereby if you aren't wearing a badge, you're automatically a "suspect," and are to be treated as such.
"Shoot first, ask questions later" is one thing when you are on a battlefield, but police should not be premitted to harbor this attitude. Unfortunately, many do. It's an old joke among cops I've heard several times: "In God we trust; Everyone else is a suspect." It may seem funny, but it's also very disconcerting.
With my work, I collaborate closely with law enforcement, and two of my best friends are officers. So I can see both sides of the fence. I've also had the usually crappy encounters with bad cops. Every profession has a percentage of bad apples. However, your not likely to get shot by a bad dentist. Its very sad to say, but I fear our police force more than I fear your average criminal. I'm also more likely to come to harm from said law enforcement than your average criminal. I'm not trying to cheese off any law enforcement in here, because I know many of you are doing a tough job and doing it well, but thats my experience and perspective. A rather unique one since I'm a civ thats also buddies with cops and judges. Oh well, I'd still rather be an American in our system then anywhere else. Then again, the cops were pretty mellow in Amsterdam....
I've been pulled over twice. 1st time was for doing a 67, in a 45mph zone. Good thing for me, I was a police explorer for 4 years, and I knew the cop, and gave me a warning. Second time, was for doing 65in a 65mph zone. This one is funny, I got onto the freeway knowing there was a sheriff unit a few cars back, so I got into the slow lane, and set the cruise control at 65. So now the deputy is just behind me in the fast lane, and starts to pass me. We start into a curve, where I'm on the outside, and she is on the inside. Well she starts to pass me, and then all of a sudden, I start to pass her in the curve. Soshe pulls me over, and gives me a little lecture, and that I should have realized what I was doing. So I didn't know there was a such law that made passing a peace officer doing the speed limit a crime.
I can't complain, I was out pulling hole shots with my Camaro on the back roads. broke a shock, into the side wall flat! This lady cop stops ask if I needed anything, I tod her I already called my wife and she was in route. She asked if I was making those black marks I told her I was just driving pass. She stayed til my wife got there and tire was changed. Maybe this was just my lucky day.
Was stopped just outside New Orleans going home. 79 in a 60. Got the ticket for speeding and careless operation. That is the latest scam here almost any moving violation gets a careless op thrown on it, hoping you just pay and don't go to court.. Haven't been to court yet to fight the careless operation yet but the total cost right now is about 450 dollars.
Got pulled over by undercover cops. Driving a green 4 door neon. Said we looked suspicious driving through our own neighborhood. Well, the cop's partner tried to get his buddy to give us a ticket for not having the grille on the '70 Mustang. Some cops seem bored and pull over ppl for the dumbest reasons. No offense to any cops here.
Man, talk about cops wasting time....Yyyears ago, I worked at B K after school. I closed the restraunt late at night every night.
In one year alone, I was pulled over 52 times and followed home from work by at least 3 'cops' every night, I drove like a granny and my car was tip-top and non performance, 4 door. My dad listened on the scanner. They talked about it on the radio. They would wait for B K to close, stake out the only road home and wait. Even the captain and detectives where in on it. Yep, 10 rotten apples can spoil the whole basket.
Anyway. I had me a clear cut case of " department harrassment" according to some "legal people". So, after a ton of infringement on my civil rights and headache, they where made to officially apologize....I did not accept. I said " You know what you can do with your apology...."
Why would fellow cops let each other act that way?? Maybe they don't realize how that kind of unprofessional behavior wrecks their credibility.
