Good day. I am a proud owner of a 1979 Ford F250 4x4. The tie rod ends need replacement but it seems as if the previous owner has perhaps modified the tie rod. It is a single bar with two short tie rod ends. Is this how it should be? Can anyone put me in contact with possible replacement? I have all the measurements if required?
Being from South Africa, your truck should be right hand drive. All the component parts and part numbers I have access to are for left hand drive. I don't know that they'll interchange.
You might want to try contacting some of the members here that are in South Africa, they could probably be more help. Justin Hoeben is one of them, he has an ongoing build thread, here is a link to his thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...n-project.html .
Welcome to FTE, there are a lot of good, knowledgeable people here.
As you probably know, OE, at least LHD, has one joint. Attached is a link with picture from LMC truck for the LHD spec replacement. I replaced this part recently on my '78 F250 (same as '79 in US) and got a Moog replacement from Rock Auto (one of the few vendors who had it in stock at that time). Link attached also.
