Door map pockets on eBay

Not a terrible price ... says they're red, hopefully the color in the photo is just a bit off.

They do look good, but the color really looks like a tan.

That style of carpeted door panel was designed for the 1985 - 1986 models. They are much thinner than the earlier map pockets were and made out of cardboard.

The 1980 - 1984 models had a plastic door panel (some of those had carpet) that would stick out further.

I have given more than a bit of thought about getting the LMC repros for Festus. They're the full bore hard pockets, undoubtedly available from other sources as well. But as Festus has no pockets, these wouldn't be "replacements", so I'd have to either modify the full door panels, or possibly replace them with the pocket-friendly versions...

Truck Parts and Truck Accessories

BTW, looks like JBG sells repro carpeted pockets like the eBay item, in several different colors. Product name is "Door Kick Panels", and they're $47 for the pair.

IIRC those things all fit below the door panels, over the painted sheet metal; no mods necessary, just some sheet metal screws to hold 'em in place.

Cool, thanks, I see that now -- $47 is a small price to pay to have a bit more storage. Any to keep a few more items from sliding across the bench seat.

And the dimples for the screws are there from the factory!

WJ - I don't know about the aftermarket door pockets, but the factory ones are brittle and it is pretty easy to break one by letting the door swing against your leg or foot. Both of Rusty's were broken along the top of the opening, which is where there is the least strength. I repaired them by gluing scab pieces of plastic over the break on the inside of the pocket. But, knowing how vulnerable they are I reinforced the top edge of the opening with a 3/4" wide piece of steel layed on edge in the top lip and glued there. That made the pocket much stronger and I'm pretty sure it won't break again.

Good to know, gracias. I'll have to have a long talk with Festus and see if he'll approve such a fancy upgrade, bein' a farm truck an' all...

p.s. Did anyone else notice the emoticon upgrade, and numerous additions to the arsenal? Or am I just imagining that?

I found that my map pockets worked well until my friend started riding with me. His clod hopper feet were no match for them.

I have a set in red sitting on the shelf and have no use for them. Pay shipping costs and they are yours. I tend to pack things that are breakable rather stoutly. Let me know an address in a PM and I can check in the next day or so for you.

Amen to that! He's shipped me many things and none of it has been damaged. And I've re-used his packaging many times.
