I'm looking into a cat-back for my 96' 302. Something that has a nice low end, big-block rumble, without much humming crap on the highway (wind and tire noise are plenty for me). I really like the dual side exit, but also have been checking out the Gibson single exit. Not looking to spend gobs of cash either. Extra power would be nice too. Any suggestions?
I'll cast my vote but everyone knows it already. Bassani....all the way. Stainless, muffler fully welded along EVERY seam, 3" IN and OUT, stainless, routes the same and mounts with OEM hardware and bracketry, stainless, did I mention stainless steel construction. And to the best of my knowledge, the ONLY people making an aftermarket stainless Y-pipe for these trucks.
I'm two years down the road with mine and the worst problem is washing the rust stains from the rest of the truck off the exhaust system.
I have to agree on Bassani. I have their 3" stainless system from the manifold back and it has to be the best quality system I've ever installed. It's a little loud in the cab, but other than that I think it sounds great.
I didn't notice much power loss on the bottom end with the lower backpressure, but I gained a noticable amount of power on the top end. Installs very nicely as well.
