Wondering what people think the value is for a set of mint 18" HD/KR/Lariat wheels. I recently picked up a nice clean (from Texas) set of HD wheels but they are not mint, nice but not as nice as I'd like. I'm thinking of having them freshened but didn't want to put more into them then I could get out of them IF I had to.
So, what would a mint set of reconditioned HD wheels go for, no HD caps, no HD lugs, just 4 wheels....
YOU ASKED FOR & YOUR GETTING IT.. That's a real crapshoot. I'd live with them as is unless money is no object but I think U already stated you want to be able to get your money back out of them I'd buy a set of aftermarkets over 8" factory any day when I do buy the factory's $300 a set of 4, ( 16" stars) is on the high side . I don't really even like the H/D wheels & Harley is my real 1st name SO IT's ALL UP TO YOU & WHAT U LIKE
I would pay around 5 bills for a set of 18's personally, but that's only because I want to go with a larger wheel/tire right now and I would have them painted black.

^^^^ $500 with no tires or old tires is a fair price. ^^^^^^
Depends on the market. They are only worth what someone will pay for them. I paid 350 with caps and lug nuts, asking price was 500.00. They are in pretty good shape to me and accomplished what I wanted them to do...quit rubbing!
I have a thing with collecting Harley Davidson stuff, so the wheels were a must.
If I didn't find the deal that I did on mine for 500.00, I probably would have been happy paying 800-1000 for a set of near perfect condition HD wheels after the want of wanting them got too bad for me to handle.
Are you thinking about having them stripped, polished and re clear coated? I'm currently looking for the right shade of paint to touch up the HD logos on mine

Not sure if I'll strip, polish and clear coat yet. I may use them as is. These were the first set I've seen in my area so I bought them. I'm certain I can sell them for what I got into them. However I don't think I want all the bling of the HD wheel so I could refinish them "natural", then clear them, but that would hurt their value.
Thank you all for your opinions and if you think I'm rubbing it in, stop reading.
I think for early ex guys that possibly the kr/lariat wheels are worth more as the caps are easier to come by and the lugs are generic.
Getting the right HD lugnuts to be able to run the correct cap (if you are lucky to get them) is extremely difficult.
I paid 600 for wheels with caps and tires at 20% and wrong lugnuts. The oem nuts I got off Ebay with the lock kit for 160.
Mine are pretty damn nice but not perfect. I am real happy to be into mine with where I am at.
I think the complete package demands a premium vs selling wheels only, at least on the HD side. But the fact you can cover the ugly nuts with the caps on the kr lariat wheels broadens your market.
I thought you just drove up there to get away from the wife for a few days
HHUSHHH, don't let her know.
I just wanted a really Philly cheesesteak in a GEO METRO.
I must admit I enjoyed (most) of the trip I finally got to drive the EX on a long haul without a trailer. Having lunch with Tom (WE3ZS) was the cherry on the pie.
