On my 2005 X I ideally would like to get 18 inch HD rims--anyone know the backspace and offset on those? Also-what tire sizes have you guys with the HD's used? If I go to an aftermarket wheel-what dimensions for an 18 inch would you suggest - there are so many its very confusing?I have V code springs in front and Stock with RAS on the back. Truck is basically level. I do have 3 1/2 blocks I may put on the rear but haven't decided yet since the springs are only a few weeks old and I don't know if they are settled or not.I would like to fill the wheel wells better. I don't want the tires wider to where they would be beyond the well...maybe a tad wider than stock is what I'm thinking. I know that's a lot of stuff to ask but that's how much I DON'T know about wheels. I've read and collected info, understand what the terms mean but don't have a clue how to get where I want to go.
This was my old 01
Add a leafs out back, "front spring hanger spacer" up front that "levels" a super duty pu. Essentially a 2.5" lift. Using 285 75 18 tires and wheels that were I believe 8.5 wide. Unknown backspace.
This is the exact look I want suspension wise for my 05 but went with the x code modded B to get there. I think the HD wheels are pretty even on back space as in I know they are 8" wide and believe they are 4" or damn close on the back space.
I believe my old EX had 3.5-4" backspace which pushed the wheel out .5-1" out from stock.
The 285 75 18 has a spec height of right at 35" but will fit the 8" rim safely and not stick out real far. The width is much narrower than a 35 x 12.5 tire.
I ran this setup without flares initially then added them. But they fit fine without them.
I run a set of Nitto Dura Grapplers in 305/70R18E on my '04 Lariat rims, they are 35.28" tall and 12.5" wide. I do get a litte tire to spring rub at full steering lock. Modded X codes and modded B codes.
Did you really take a picture of your computer to post? Thats awesome!
Unfortunately that's the only pic of my first excursion I have after doing the mods. We bought it in Mar of 08 to pull a toy hauler. We adopted more kids and needed more toys and a bigger toy hauler. So instead we sold the the toys and TT. I regularly drive old cars (classic) and my wife hated the ex so I sold it.....
It had 101k when we bought it....104k when I sold it. 7.3L w new trans, tires and wheels etc, XLT w leather. I put Catz landmaster lights on it to.
I sold it when diesel here was at $4.85 a gallon......it sold for 15k.
That pic is on my computer at work so yes....it took a pic if a pic. I did it a last fall to give me reference for my 05.

What kind of rims were you running then? I feel your pain about the pics-I can only find 2 of my 2001 X and 1 has it covered with snow

I noticed the "Highway"--how are the Nitto's for road noise?
Yep, I still get some rubbing ...Tires don't rub a thing though..I had some 315/70/17 and at full lock they rubbed pretty good. I have a nice shiny spot on the leaf springs where they contacted. New tires do not rub at all.
