Got a question about our 2000 Expedition, 5.4, XLT.
Wife went to use the wipers and there was a terrible clunk inside the cowl, with some scratching noise. Well I was able to finally get the cowl off this afternoon, its been raining all day in Mid Missouri. I noticed that the ball and socket was just popped out. I can pop it back in, but it seems loose. Do I need to get all new linkage or is there something else I can do to save some money. It's 100+$ for new linkage.
Is it a good idea to put a little grease on them before installing the linkage back in?
Absolutely, not only will it prolong their lifespan, but it will aid in snapping them on. BTW, channel lock type pliers work real well at popping them on, because if adjusted properly they will give an even squeeze across the bushing.
