Question starting issue 1997 f350 1ton

Hello all, its been some time since i have inquired all you ford lovers about an issue with a ford i proudly own.
This time it is about an issue that revolves around my f350 EX-Uhaul 14 ft box truck. It has a 460 that when i purchased used with 200+k miles on it, suddenly check engine light came on after about 50 miles. when code checked it was due to a misfire condition. after resetting the code, it did not have any issues, but then i ran it through emissions, passed easily, after they swappped out my gas cap, then i ran it for about a 300 miles with no problems. then all of a sudden at 65 mph it just stopped running, I disconnected the battery for 30 mins, then it started right up, but no check engine light was on at that time. Now i have started it and it runs for 5 minutes or less, then shuts down, with no check engine light indicator. This has happened twice , still no codes are present on my own code reader then it will not start at all. It acts like a fuel issue, and when i disconected the fuel line going into the in line filter, and then turned on the key, it shot out about 2 oz of fuel then stopped pumping all together. I then did it again, and again it pumped out same amount of fuel and stopped. I thought that as long as the key were turned on it would pump till pressure was gained. ANY IDEAS ?

You could still have a misfire. I would check over your ignition components. Clearing a misfire code will not fix the misfire, so I would take a look at your plugs, wires, and especially the cap and rotor on your distributor. Your fuel pump may be an issue also, but I would look at the ignition first.

I agree with checking for ignition first. Pull a wire off and crank the engine over to see if it's firing. The fuel may shutoff due to no rpm, but I don't know for sure.

If it dies very suddenly it is most likely the ignition module. A loss of fuel will usually stumble or slow slightly before stopping.
