Ignition or Fuel???
Ignition or Fuel???
1993 F-150 4.9L 2WD
Today makes the 3rd time this has happened.
I drive about 50 miles to work.
About 35 to 40 miles into the trip home (this never happens in the morning), the check engine light comes on, and the truck acts like it is starving for gas. It will never completely die, just loose all power.
I replaced the Fuel filter about 150 miles ago and drove over the weekend, but no problem, until once again today, within 5 miles of the last spot on the highway, it acted up.
After letting it sit for a couple hours, I can start it up,(the check engine light doesn't come on either) and drive like normal.
My thoughts are possibly a coil or other ignition problem.
any thoughts as to what to check?
I don't own a code reader, what's going on with the codes is anyone's guess.
Thanks in advance,
Michael

That sounds like a bad fuel pump...or a fuel delivery problem, it doesn't sound electrical, my brothers F150 was doing the same thing and he found out the pickup tube in the tank was picking up something from the bottom and would slow down fuel delivery, then with the truck shut off it would dislodge until he started driving again.
Just a thought.
