So I haven't been at the computer for a couple of days.....Thank you all for your input. I am going to go with the 2" shackles. I think that will be just enough to keep my eye from twitching when I look at the truck. I owe a big thank you to Scott, IMASAP! He hooked me up with the shackles!!! Thank you very much Scott!!!!

I attempted to install them Thursday....I couldn't break 2 of the bolts. Since my back surgeries in 12 and fusion in 13 I have apparently lost a lot of strength. Having worked on the Railroad for 23 years I am having a difficult time admitting this. LOL Anyway...I made an appointment with my local garage to have them done on Tuesday. Meanwhile, 50 miles or less into my 190 mile trip to NY tonight, I noticed my headlights didn't seem up to their normal brightness....pulled into a rest area on The Pike, threw a meter on my bat. YUP, 10.4 Volts!

We pressed on!! Made it!! After I disconnected the trailer and went to spin her around to get closer for the bat charger...The headlights started flickering...Didn't take the chance on getting stuck in the middle of the main road here...shut her down, ran an extension cord and she's on the charger now!!

Guess tomorrow I will be searching an alternator....probably going to look for a heavier duty one than what was stock. With the new plow it will be needed. Thank God I didn't get stuck on the Pike, or it waited until my first call for the town to plow!!

Why is it every time I try to add something to one of my vehicles it rewards me by needing money for something else?!! LOL

Signed,

Spending more money on the X!! (Better than spending it on the EX though!)

Hey Keith, hope those shackles get you where you want to be. Like I said, I didn't see me ever putting those on my Ex..... so, happy to help out another forum member.

so let me understand this....... a 1" shackle will net a 1/2 inch lift ? Therefore if I am looking for a 1.5" front lift to level X, I need a 3" shackle ?

Thanks

If buying online, most vendors will label the shackles as to the amount of lift they provide, if unsure I would double check with the vendor. If building your own, then yes, about half as much lift as the extra length.

OH BOY!! Just got back from the shop. I think I am in for a large bill!! Truck on lift, both front shackles, shocks, sway links disconnected! Seems to me it would have been more prudent to do one at a time? Tech said he is having trouble lining them back up, because new springs are so stiff. Should I be concerned? Please ease my mind.

Lol.

They may have a different approach but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Be a lot easier to line them up with a trans support under each side of the axle... :-MichaelSmiley Whoops! I meant

When I did my drop hangers I did the shackle side first, then used a giant pry bar to get the front eyes into the pockets on the mounts.

All's well that ends well! She's home. I measure level right now. 41.5" all four corners. Well the right side is a 1/2 inch higher. I am expecting she will settle in the next few days. I will take her for a run tomorrow when there are no Tornado watches in my area!

OH! While it was on the lift my "muffler delete" pipe arrived. I shot it down to them and they installed that for me as well!!

Thanks again Scott!!

I hope the pictures come out ok. I had to resize them...here goes...

I suspect the difference in the front will level out when the Shackles find their resting point? I don't know if a 1/2 of and inch is anything to be worried about but I will give it a week or so and see. The rears have settled, as there was a side to side difference earlier. BTW, my driveway is by no means level...but it is fairly level.

Looks great Keith, they may settle a little bit but don't think 1/2 inch on that one side. Don't forget to go back and check your bolts in a few days. If it really bothers you, ride with a fat chick on the right side
