I have my conversion complete now. All went pretty well. all looks good I might say!
In reading just about everything on the net on this and others on this conversion, and did read somewhere that there was an issue with the (in my case-painted) pad sticking out on the edges out from the bumper....well mine came out that way......looks kind of like its unfinished.......anyone know how to remedy this? a friend of mine who is NOT a car/truck guy looked at it and said it looked like the INSIDE edge of the pad could be trimmed away so it would naturally flex inwards.......
MINE IS aftermarket as is the bumper and lower valance.......bumper seems to fit well as does the lower valance and even the aftermarket fog lights!
We just returned from a weeks camping trip and BOY, I love the new mirrors!!
They are manual swing and manual telescope, we simply pulled them out when we were towing the 35.9' Forest River Sierra 323FK TT, which weighs between 10 & 11k all loaded up!
The pictures of the pad clearly show what I'm talking about in sticking out.....The pad has a 3 piece "energy absorber" behind it of which I ended up using an OEM Ford unit because the aftermarket one that came with the pad would absolutely NOT attach....
There are 2 curved pieces (1 at each end) of the pad that also might be causing the pad not to curve in......
Any suggestions Guys?? (I DO need to adjust the height of the bumper!)
Heres a couple of shots of "before" with the CUT-DOWN '07 Grille, and '04 headlights, along with the Xenon air dam and fog lights.
I was going to try to utilize some factory wiring and headlight switch to run my new '07 fog lights, but then there is the problem with running the fogs with the parking and the high beams.....
Soooo, I just utilized the PIAA push button switch along with their relays that were already in place, spliced into the OEM '07 fog light harness that I bought......works out real nice, though we never drove at night so I have no idea how anything is aimed....
Thanks! L99 with just 143k original 2 owner miles! -been kind of neglecting it over the past 2 years, just catching up a bit......just did a MAJOR front brake job before our trip!
