blow by smoke ?
i changed the head on my truck 223 61 bread delivery truck , and got it running but i have alot of white/gray smoke out of the blow by. I had alot of water in the oil before i changed the head which was warped i changed the oil but not the filter does it makes sense that the water i am seeing is from the first leak ? or does it sound like a cracked block ,cause i checked it at the cylinder walls (cause i didnt change the filter ?) the compression before i did the head was 150 accross all 6 oil pressusure is 40 to 60 psi and it has power . my question is how much is normal and what does too much mean ? the tail pipe has no smoke at all . i am planing on driving this on a long trip so i am a little nervous . also does any body know a product for helping the rings ( slick 50 sorta thing ) thanks for your time
blow by smoke ?
Change the oil and filter. Inspect the PCV system and be sure it is working. You should use a thermostat 180 at least, maybe 160 if you are in the South. Don't worry about cracked blocks and all that, drive the truck! Some moisture in the crankcase is normal and if the engine dosen't get to a good operating temprature it will collect that white mayonayse looking crap in the rocker arm cover. I am not saying that you don't have a cracked block, head or leaking head gasket. Fix the other stuff first then go to the bigger stuff. Post some pictures! I'd like to see your truck. I think an old bread truck would make a really nice camper or hunting rig.
