Clutch Help - New everything, preload?
Rebuilt motor, brand new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, master and slave. Upgraded from a 11" to a 12" clutch.
Fired the motor up last week, couldn't get the truck into gear because the clutch would not release. Pulled the motor fixed some leaks and re-installed the clutch package to be certain it was correct.
Ready to start it back up but am now realizing that I have ZERO free-play in my pedal. The slave cyl has a lot of pressure against the fork and the throwout bearing. The firewall is not flexing and I believe I am getting the 0.5"ish of fork travel the service manual calls for. The arm from the master cyl lands directly on my clutch pedal, I believe it is adjusted correctly.
Do I have a problem? Are these supposed to have preload and a constant spinning throwout?
Thanks for the help
I feel like it is bled completely, the pedal feels firm but I don't think I have the travel I need. Going to pull the assembly out tomorrow and bleed it again.
What is getting me is the fact that the manual calls for 0.5-2" of clutch free play. Where does this freeplay come from? The master push rod? When I land the eyelit on the assembly there is 0 freeplay. If I twist it two full turns I can get what feels like freeplay but not entirely sure.
I should have paid more attention but only owned this for a month before gutting it...
