5100 Bilstein

Just got through driving the truck after installing the shocks. WOW, what a difference. There is this high speed bend in the road that I travel that always causes issues when I travel it. Not any more, the truck stayed in the lane without issue. Man these shocks rock. Thanks guys, I wouldn't have known about them if it weren't for this site.

Had the same reaction after I ditched my junk factory shocks.

I agree also night and day difference. I installed the bilstein leveling kit with the 5100 shocks and front springs. Well worth the money.

Am I missing something here? I installed these on my 2011 F350 and it improved the ride a little but this truck can still knock the fillings out of your head. Was disappointed that the rubber mounts that came with the front shocks were kinda generic and found that the shock shaft hit the steel top mount if you were not careful. Think that I could have bought a cheaper shock and got the same ride. Truck has snow plow option and is sprung heavy but figured the shocks were valved for this. Truck handled OK around a corner, the shocks did not improve that. Like I said, I don't get what all the fuss is about.

They aren't made to make a solid front axle, rear leaf spring truck handle/ride like a Tahoe. They are made to make it work better. Plow better, tow better, handle loads better. If you bought them to make it ride like a Caddy, you were misinformed as to their intended use/benefit....

You will get a lot of feedback regarding the "fx4 ranchos". All bad....I am getting ready to replace those on my 8 month old truck. You can research and even find a video of a guy who changed them out brand new..They are NOT good at all..

OMG, do a search on the FX4 "Ranchos." They are really just a Ford shock that Ford pays Rancho to spray their color and put their name on. Absolute garbage. I had three of four blown in less than a thousand miles. The FX4 Rancho is the reason so many here have gone searching for new shocks in the first place!

Towing

Anybody using the Bilstein shocks for towing? I'm thinking about replacing the factory shocks.
