2007 4.6L starting problem
got my truck (2007 XLT 4.6L V8) about 3 years ago, with a 6 month warranty (63,000). At that time it was not starting right. Took it back to dealer 4 times with no resolution. When starting it will turn over fine, I let it turn for about 4-5 sec and then let go of key. I repeat and sometimes it will start, most times not. On the third time it usually starts normally. I then get a heavy gas smell outside the vehicle. when I say normally I mean as in you turn the key and engine starts then you let go of key. Mine is you turn key engine starts but it seems like starter does not disengage and keeps trying too start truck. Its like it doesn't sense that the engine is running and cut the starter circuit. At idle it hits and misses sporadically. I have replaced spark plugs, boots, coils and MAF sensor. I am at wits end here. I love the truck I just want it to start right. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
