alright so i will be putting together my intake manifold this upcoming week. after i put it back together and torque it to spec, when should i retorque it? i forgot to retorque and this gasket failed and found 3 middle bolts on driver side not even hand tight. so when should i retorque? after warming it up or after a week?
Are you re-using the old bolts? If so, then this can be part of your problem.
I got a set of ARP intake bolts, black oxide version and I only needed to go over them twice to ensure all were torqued to spec. Even sitting for 12+ hour's yeilded no virtual change from my second torque when I set them in.
First of all, I know nothing...I'm a basic shade tree mechanic type DIY'er.
What would old vs new hardware have to do with bolts loosening? Other than using obviously, terribly, grossly corroded bolts, how would re-using manifold bolts lead to a problem?

Well I torqued the old bolts down to spec and in sequence that my Haynes manual said and they somehow got loosened up and started leaking coolant again. Ever since putting on those ARP bolts I haven't had a single issue since. And its been a year. They are cheap for an important part of the engine so might as well replace them
