I was watching this movie called "Trespass" and the Bronco on the movie had a rear window that went up and down at the push of a button, similar to keyless entry. Does anybody have one of these or know where I could get one.
I did this conversion, although I only set it up to go down automatically. I wired it in to the dash switch. You could use an additional module to make it go automatically up as well, and Steve83 has suggested using a relay to get by with one module. Anyway, here's the thread I started, and in it you will find the guide on how to do it. I still haven't gotten around to cleaning it up to be posted as a tech article.
If you wanted to do it with a remote control, I'm sure that modern car alarms have an "accessory" line that you could use to trigger the window down, although you would then have to mount the module in the tailgate so that it had power when the vehicle was off.
This was factory as far as I know. Just purchased the truck 2 days ago. I can get a pic of where the switch is located. Its built into the heat,vent,A/C control thing.
That's where the switch is mounted for those years. But your window goes all the way up/down by just hitting the switch once, not holding it until the window stops traveling?
Unfortunately, I haven't had time to explore the possibility of one express module for all the windows yet. The only time I've even touched the one you sent me was to move it from one spot on the bench to another.
Hey, that's a lot of work! You should be proud of your accomplishment...
My rear window gear ate itself a week or so ago, and I can't help but wonder if it had to do with that module, but I kind of doubt it. After all, it is an eleven-year old gear. I'm still kind of wondering how the module knows when to stop sending the "down" signal.
It just uses a timer. If the motor is slow, it may not make it all the way down before the module times out. It doesn't hurt the motor to stall for a couple of seconds as long as it has several minutes to cool off, which can be expected; if you've just zipped the window down, you'll probably leave it alone for a while.
