O2 sensor bank one

My brother has a 98 E250 with a 5.4. It has a code that says O2 sensor bank one is running lean. Which side is bank 1? He has a Haynes manual and it doesn't say which side is bank one and I haven't been able to find out with a search.
Thanks for any help.

Lean codes are not caused by the O2 sensors.

A few things can contribute to this code. Vaccum leaks, pcv not working (shack it. If it rattles it should be good). Grommet that holds the pcv could be done. Clogged injectors. I had code P0171 on my 01 5.4 with 239k. Is that the code your brother has? Also I read someone on this forum that a clogged fuel filter "could" cause this.

Wishing you the best of luck. Remember the search feature can be your best friend.
