The factory service manual does not mention a separate IAC AND it shows that the SOHC 4.0L in the 2004 Explorer has an electronic throttle body. The electronic throttle body could easily incorporate that feature in to it.
So my conclusion would be if you don't see an IAC at your throttle body AND you confirm your truck has the electronic throttle body, it would not have a separate IAC.

Thanks for your input Rod. I've looked into this a little deeper and I believe you are correct. The 4.0 SOHC has an electronic throttle body. Therefore, it does not have the IAC.
