Hi, My name is George and I have a 99 Explorer Sport. I have owned and enjoyed Fords for a long time. My first car was a 1939 Ford business coup with a 46 truck V8. I was too Young to have a driver's license so I destroyed it by driving it in the woods on a homemade dirt track along with my friends. Ford products I owned in the past included a 54 Merc, 58 Merc with Marauder engine, and my first new car a 64 Falcon Futura with the 260 CID V8 and Warner 4 speed (not ford). I switched the tiny 13 x 6.50 inch wheels to 14 x 7.50 wheels, beefed up the suspension with 4 leaf springs from a Ranchero and Monroe Super 500 heavy duty shocks. I bumped the timing to 12 degrees btc an ran hi test gas. At 2583 pound it was a little rocket and I enjoyed it for 12 years and 170 K miles until rust got the better of it. My next small block was the 72 Comet with the 302 CID that my wife and children all learned to drive with and I ran it for 16 years until giving it to a young man. Finally I got to own a 5.0 Mustang in 1987 that I still have and keep garaged in mint condition despite having 83,000 miles on it. It still drives and handles like new. Daily drivers include my 99 Explorer Sport, a 2001 Sable and 2004 Sable. The Ford engines take a beating and still run great. Clearly I am a fan.
