Leaf spring question

So i haven't been able to follow the different code springs, to make this simpler I'm asking, what spring set do I need to get to get the front of the ex to the 350 ride height?

ATS Springs: X codes are from snow plow prepped pickups and F-550s and will lift your front about 2.75" lift and will be more firm and should fit 35 with no problem.... Im slightly less and no trimming needed.

REAR:

C codes from the SD trucks are rated higher than our stock X springs but they are dual rated spring packs compared to our single rate springs........more so they actually ride much more efficient than our stock springs.

MOD C - With the taller front X codes in front - ATS built for me and others new spring packs that are pre-modded with a slight rake of 1.25" higher in back than front

the ride is unbelievable...... why anyone would lift something without a better suspension I am puzzled.

It really depends on what you mean by "350 ride height." F350's came with different springs depending on how the truck was optioned. There really isn't a definitive 250 spring, 350 spring, etc.

It honestly depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking strictly for height, the X/C code might be a little rough for you. If you are looking for a firmer ride with better load handling the X/C code would be a good route to go!

Many members on here are happy with the V/B mod swap too! There are a few different tricks to get you some extra ride height too. Are you just looking to be about the same ride height as the F350's? Are you wanting that type of a ride quality?

Not really too worried about the ride , just wanting about 2 more inches of lift in the front

Well the X code was pretty well cover by the above posters. Another option that will deliver similar ride height but offer a slightly softer ride (but firmer than the stock EX leaves) would be a V code swap and 1" drop shackles.

This spring swap reference chart may help with your spring selection.
This is my Spring cheat sheet complied from various posts here on FTE mostly from old posts by bruce1954 and Monsta.

The following only applies to 4X4 EXs, the 2X4 rigs have coil springs up front. All EXs came from Ford with G code rear springs, the V-8 EXs all came with B (front B code is much different than rear B code, confused yet?) 4100lb, all V-10 EXs came with C code fronts at 4300lb and all PSD EXs had D codes at 4700lbs.
All the other codes discussed come from SuperDuty trucks (they came with springs that don't suck from Ford.)
Spring........Capacity.....Rate lbs/".....Max travel.....V-10 change.....PSD change
B (V-8)......4100lbs.......330 lb/".........5.02"...........-0.25".............-0.66"
C (V-10)....4300lbs.......350 lb/".........5.01".............0.00"............-0.37"
D (PSD).....4700lbs.......380 lb/".........5.14"...........+0.33".............0 .00"
S codes.....4000lbs.......370 lb/".........4.34"...........+1.22"............+0 .88"
T codes.....4400lbs.......390 lb/".........4.63"...........+1.42"............+1 .11"
U codes.....4800lbs.......410 lb/".........4.89"...........+1.60"............+1 .32"
V codes.....5200lbs.......430 lb/".........5.13"...........+1.77'............+1 .50"
W codes....5600lbs.......450 lb/".........5.34"...........+2.77'............+2 .52"
X codes.....6000lbs.......470 lb/".........5.54"...........+2.90"...........+2. 68"
W codes are from F-450s and X codes are from F-550s and other SD trucks with snow plow prep.

The above spring info has been gathered from posts here on FTE by "monsta" and "bruce1954".

As you can see from the above chart the V code with a 1" shackle will nearly equal the lift of the heavier X code.

Junkyard 550 X codes and modded B codes netted me exactly 2" over stock. Both unknown mileage.

I appreciate the medium stiffer ride.

Is there a chart like this for rear springs?

Not like the front springs (really gotta give Bruce props for doing the Excel sheet all those years ago. All Ex owners have benefited from it for 10 years) but I have this rear spring info I've posted for a few years now:

Rear spring codes:
A = F-250 & Excursion (6,084 lbs)
B = F-350 SRW (6,830 lbs)
C = F-350 DRW (8,250 lbs)

Unsure of the accuracy, so take it for what it's worth.

Thanks Tom!

Are you buying new or used? If used, ANYTHING you replace the factory springs with is an improvement.

If you're buying new, then I like SRW C codes for the rear. I have V's but wish I went with more...maybe W or X. I think X is the new V.
