Looking at header options for my '70 f-250 4x4 w/ 360 and 4 speed. Was looking at mad dog headers and saw that the ones that they make to fit my truck are 2" primary tubes and 3½" collectors. What size are stock exhaust ports on a 360, and what would a good size header be for it? I don't plan on doing anything crazy with the truck, just mostly drive it, occasionally with weight in bed.
IMO the more important thing about any headers would be fit, how well they seal, and how heavy they are or what coating they have to prevent or slow down rust.
I went with the Maddog headers and the quality looks really good. I have only got to test fit them, but I'm pleased. You can see them in my write up linked below.
I looked at the pics of the mad dogs you posted, I like the idea of them being out away from the starter and the rest of the engine. My questions are, are the 2" primaries too big for my stock engine? Everything I read says that tri-y headers will have the most increase in low-mid power range. Does anybody have any experience with these?

Save your money. Unless there's money to burn for eye candy, racing, or making 500+ HP, 2-inch primaries on a stock engine is waaaaay overkill. Headers with up to 1.75 inch primaries will do ya fine. Look for headers with thick 5/16 or 3/8-inch flanges and 16g tubing....
Put the money you don't spend towards a Pertronix ignition, open element air cleaner and filter, 2.5-inc dual tubes, and free flowing mufflers of your choice.
Have you heard anything about Stans headers? They are available in 16ga or 14ga and are 3/8" thick flanges with 1¾" primaries. Already upgraded to the pertronix set up. Any recommendations for a good air cleaner set-up for the 2 barrel that will fit other carbs if I decide to go bigger? It would most likely be a bigger 2 barrel anyway.

Any open element air cleaner for a 4V carb will also fit an Autolite 2V. Holley 2300 2V also.
