It's about time to replace the tires on my flatbed car trailer. I have ST's on it now, and am wanting to upgrade to radial LT trailer tires. My neighbor "knows a guy" at a tire shop in town and says he can get them at cost. I told him what I wanted...
He came back with a 205/75 R 15 8 ply made by "Towmax", for $57.35 each.
Isn't the Towmax a Chinese tire? And if it doesn't say "LT" on the side, then it's not an LT, right?
I don't put many miles on my trailer, but I don't want a crap set of tires on it either. I'm looking for at least 2K lb load per tire, my trailer gross weight is 8K.
Looked them up on Tire rack.com. They are ST's, and are load range C, max load 1820, so even though I told him what I wanted, he came back with something else.
That is the direction I'm going to go I think. I did look around for some suitable tires for a 15" rim and didn't come up with anything I liked. So yeah, 16"s and LT's are in my future.
