He ordered a 04 the first day you could. The dealer called and said it was built and will be delivered on the 28th of July. He called yesterday and the dealer said the truck was TBD, to be determined. Its on a lot somewhere, but Ford will not release it. Its been inspected and ready for sale.
The reason for this. Ford is going to showcase the trucks on Monday Night Footballs premiere. They will not deliver any trucks before that time.
He sold his 97 on word his truck was coming, now he has no transportation besides his old corvette, which is never driven. Why would Ford screw people that actually WANT their product. I think he is going to walk and get a Dodge

Its because the dealer gave a bad date, not because of Ford corporate. Everyone I've talked to at Ford, from the engineers to the the F-150 and truck line brand managers, takes the 2004 very seriously and is doing everything they can to not screw up this new product.
FYI, some dealers are notorious for promising delivery before it can actually happen. They'd rather have you sign on the dotted line then go down the street to the GM dealer.

My neighbor had the problem with his new Dodge Ram Hemi. But to make matters worse his truck came in ....finally, and it came in with options he didn't even order. Dodge pretty much said...Whoops, we messed up. He said forget that, and he couldn't be happier with his 2003 F-350 Dually! Ford, Dodge, Chevy...whatever, you could find stories like yours with any brand, Domestic, or Imports!
