Ehhhhh, wrong answer.
I actually got it to work by plugging the USB adapter w/Micro card into my computer, going into WMP and ripping the CD's to MP3 format with storage in my music library. Once that is done, you can drag the album (or songs) into the Windows Sync area (right side of screen) and hit the "sync now" and have it load into the USB/card set up.
Once they are loaded, stick the set up into the USB port of the Ford system, it will take a minute to sort and organize, and then it will allow play by artist, song, album, etc including the cover art.
Now that I know how to do it, it actually works like a charm and I have ripped about 50 CD's already with hundreds more to go.
Has Sync changed since 2011? I'm getting a 2016 and hope it works better. The Dodge guys claim theirs is much better. And call Sync a joke.
I use a Ipod..works but PIA sometimes. Hard to find podcasts and specific things like audible books.
I read it cost Ford $24 for the chip...I would of paid more for a better Sync.
No problem here ripping, then copy to flash drive, cd or even dvd. After the last Sync update it even works better. I have the older version in my 2011, but the Sync update made several changes that enhanced the experience. Reads txt messages, allows me to reply, voice commands are crisper.
I have 1 TB flash drive that I keep in my truck. Its like 10% full. Once a week or so I'll throw a few more songs on it. Works great. The voice command thingamabobber works with it. I can fast forward. Steering wheel controls work with it. I suggest using one of those.

I've heard oft those, but never seen one. Last time I checked, they were over $750 and sync didn't support them. How did you get it to work?
If you didn't pay over $500 for it, it's likely a 1 GB (gigabyte) flash drive. No biggie, I'm just a nerd and seeing a 1 TB (terabyte) would be really cool.
Yea, you're right. 512gb. I bought it late last year when I built my PC. I want to say $400 or so for it. There so much room for music, I never really even noticed. I've got a stack of 3TB HDDs and for some reason I got stuck on this flashdrive being 1TB.
