Clearly, I'm missing something

I just noticed a bolt in what appears to be a heater hose near the firewall:

Taken from the drivers side

Since I'm a bit of a bone head, when I ordered a manual I got a 1997 and up manual. Useless since my '97 F-250HD is essentially a '96 F-250. Can anyone tell me what should be between these hoses?

I'm betting that and the other hose went to the Combination Air Diverter/Bypass valve. It was part of the smog equipment.

One hose came off the wishbone on the back of the heads. The other hose is connected to the exhaust.

Maybe someone has a pic of it they can post.

Thanks Puddy. Seeing the picture I recognize the set-up from doing the trans on my 89. Shouldn't hurt anything to leave it as is then right?
