Servicing wise, the 6.7 PSD is much easier than the Cummins.

With an aftermarket muffler, you wouldn't even know the truck was tuned in the cab.

Yes she is a lot smarter than I and a great woman, and mother to our young girls. I have to crawl around a psd more and compare serviceability. Is the inter cooler on the psd having any issues? 2015s pretty much solid now with the turbo updates? Did they get the valve issue figured out?

Intercooler is water to air and has no issues on the 6.7s. The weakest link on the 6.7s were the turbochargers. Seems the '15 (at the moment) turbos are going to be reliable. Oil and fuel filter changes are a breeze.

When did the turbos typically start to act up mileage wise or was it hit and miss. How about high pressure fuel pumps. Or injection systems as a whole pretty good?

I have a '14 6.7 and just got my truck back Monday night, it had a bad turbo. The parts were back ordered because of the issues Ford is having with the '11-'14 turbos. The turbo on the '15's is a better turbo sharing some design traits from the Dmax which has been very reliable. Oh my truck had just under 21,000 when the turbo went.

Other than daulwheels66 I hadn't heard of a turbo issue on here in quite a while. Didn't know it's been an issue.

Far as the fuel system, pick your poison. The Powerstoke and Dmax both use the CP4 injection pump. The Ram looks like it still uses a CP3. The documented failures of the CP4 on here are pretty few and far between. I had a 2007 5.9 Cummins that lost the CP3 at 49K. If you chose Ram, I wish you luck. I'd never buy another. The Cummins isn't the dead nuts reliable tractor engine it used to be.

As far as gas or diesel goes, I do 5-6K a year and my truck is diesel. I drive my car on the short trips unless I need the truck for whatever reason. I just try to keep the short trips minimized as much as possible. I went diesel because when I need it to perform, I want to enjoy the task. And I don't care if gas costs less and it takes 100k to make financial "sense" for the diesel. The horrible gas mileage of the gasser would wear on me, even if it cost less in the long run.

It's hit or miss on how many miles they give up the ghost. The HPFP's have caused "unwarranted" scares. There are threads here that make you wonder, but like mentioned above, they are far and few in between. I ran it by a few local dealers in the area, and all of them have seen failures, but all were water/DEF related. The CP4s won't tolerate any foreign objects or fluids being run through them. Maintenance and knowing you are buying quality fuel are crucial. The CP3s are tougher, but I have personally replaced them on Cummins and D/Maxs under 100k. The injectors on these trucks are very reliable as long as the pump stays happy. It's the way of the world with common rail injection.

When you say water/def issues. I understand the water issue but people actually put def in fuel tank? In the end I just want a truck that's not gonna strand me on the road because of a def/dpf issue. A cummins or psd could do it. Just want to get the one least likely to do it. Water in fuel well there is not much you can do about that besides getting fuel at a good station. I figure with proper care and attention I'll be ok. I do however not like the plastic oil pan on the psd. What's with that?

Yes. Due to the DEF fill neck location (right beside the fuel fill), people do it on accident. PSD or Cummins will treat you right. Drive em both. Buy what YOU like. No more plastic oil pans on the PSD after '11.

Thanks everyone for advice and or opinion. They will all be taken into consideration when the time is right to jump on one. Now get to sell my truck after camping season. Then start working the salesman over!

Well I bit the bullet and got a new truck last week. Decided to gas again which I am happy I did. I shopped all three very heavily and lots of comparing back and forth. In the end I decided on a 2015 Ram Tradesman with pretty much every option. I got the 6.4l "Hemi" and 4.10 limited slip rear. Did a test tow with camper and VERY impressed with the power over the 05 v10. It pulls hard all the way through the rpm range where my v10 seemed to falter out above 3000 rpm. Maybe it needed a tune up but overall very happy with new ride! Don't worry I still own a Ford and will probably own another someday. For right now the Ram seemed right.

I have heard good things about the 6.4, hope it treats you well for a long time to come.
