Aftermarket Tachometer

Has anyone installed a tachometer on their truck (6 volt)? I would like to install one on my 47 1.5 T. What is out there for economical and/or easy options...

What I can say is be careful about early sun tachs. They need a seperate control box which is often missing. To complicate matters the control box uses a special mercury battery or something like that. It could be a kryptonite battery and those may be easier to find. On a positive note I saw a booth at the swap meet in Monroe Wa. last month and all they sold was refurbished vintage sun tachs, so best to find an expert. They are out there. Economical? Maybe not......

Westach.com has one of the few 6 volt positive ground tachs that I've seen. They have 8-cylinder 3,500 RPM, 5,000 RPM, and 8,000 RPM tachs in 2" ($124.65) and 5,000 RPM 3" models ($143.65) plus mount and light kit. I hope you get a lot more replies since I am also interested.

These guys in addition to restoring gauges and converting them to 12 volt, they also convert Sun Tachometers to solid state, - Tachometer conversions (solid state- no batteries needed)
Tachometer conversions (mechanical to electric). I don't know anything about them but they also respond to questions I have sent via email regarding their services.

They must be old guys if they respond to emails. My kids only respond to texts. "Dad you are so 2010"......

Aftermarket Tach

So I almost didn't buy it but I did and started installing it, long story short I forgot to disconnect the battery and had everyrhing hooked up lights on the tach working. I put the quick splice on and when i started my truck my volt, preasure and temp guage are not reading and from what I can see my fuses look fine. Any suggestions please?
