Ac leak

Hey guys.. I have a problem with the Ac in my 98 f150. The 4.2 base model. I've put freon and doesn't want to get cold. My bled door is fine, I checked. I added the freon with the dye in it to check for leaks and this is the result. Green around the lines where they meet the compressor. My question is do I need to replace the lines or compressor? The clutch in the compressor doesn't want to engage at all. It used to go on for one or two seconds at a time. Now nothing. Any ideas? Thanks

All of your refrigerant leaked out which prevents clutch engagement. Start with new O-rings, they're a lot cheaper than either a compressor or a new manifold/hose assembly.

What's with that damaged wire going to the clutch? If it's open, it will also prevent the clutch from operating.

Can I just throw Some electrical tape on it and cover it up? So I should replace O rings and throw some more freon in it?

somebody cut the insulation off the wire, If the copper wire inside is still OK, then you can put tape to replace the insulation. The compressor has to have about 25 psi inside for the clutch to engage. If the Freon leaked out (R134) then the clutch will not engage. If you can see obvious leaking at the fitting, you might replace the o-ring at that location and see if will hold pressure.... Note that if you take the line off and air will leak inside, you should pull a vacuum on the system to get all air out prior to putting the R134 back in... The system will not get very cold if you have air mixed in the R134 gas. A vacuum pulled on the system is also a good way to verify that the system is TIGHT before you install more R134.... Might be best to replace the o-ring, then have someone pull a vacuum and test, then add gas.
