WHAT SIZE WRENCHES?

I've been searching for hours.... give up doing searches.

Is anyone out there kind enough to tell me what size wrenches I'm gonna need to replace my front/rear shocks on my 2005 F250 4X4 long bed? Am I gonna find any surprises awaiting me in doing this job?

Appreciate any help....thanks!

Bud

I don't remember from when I did mine but there is no size out of the ordinary from the standard back yard mechanics tools.

I want to say 18mm up front maybe 21 or 7/8 out back for the lower nut/bolt, and either 18 or 19 for the top?

have some sort of torch to heat them up. I had the bolt on the 03 get stuck in the steel sleeve in the shock. enough heating and beating and it came out.

I used 18mm on the rear and the lower end of the front shocks. Currently looking for the size of the nut on top of the front shocks. I sprayed everything with Silicroil (that doesn't look like the correct spelling) a week earlier and the back shocks came off no problem.

Thanks to all the responders! Hitting Sears today as my metric set does NOT have the 18mm nor a 21mm. Will let ya's know how I make out as the job is set for Thursday. Can can't do it as I had rotator cuff surgery last month. Son now has the pleasure and I wanted to make sure I had all the right tools! THANKS GUYS!

Torch, nut splitter, zip disc, cold chisel, air hammer or anything other than a wrench for the upper stud nuts on the front. Biggest PITA ever to try to remove intact, no amount of Kroil or PB Blaster made a dent in those suckers. I used a cold chisel to split mine off, but one set I did was rusted solid, so we sawzall'd the stud off and use a cut off wheel to split the nut.

I am located in mid-Atlantic state. No rust problem and only 60,000 mi on truck. I have already doused the threads with PB.

DONE! Passenger side front was a ^(*$^%#%_!!! Had to use the nut splitter to get that sucker off. After that, we were done in about an hour! Forgot he had a compressor. Air is KING!

Mmmmhmmmm

IDK what it is about them, but not a single other part on my shocks rusted except the stud.

Sounds like I was lucky! A bit of Kroil and an impact wrench, came right off. They looked like original shocks too. Truck came from Colorado, they must not use salt there either.
