need help identifying bracket

I just noticed this bracket that is located between the tailgate and the truck bed on the passenger side of the truck. The truck is a '15 F350 DRW. My son has a '15 F350 SRW and he doesn't have the bracket on his truck.
Can anyone id this thing and tell me what it

Trucks equipped with the tailgate step get the bracket. It is to prevent the tailgate from slipping off the hinges while a load is put on the step.

IKbenson, I have/had the bracket. I took it off, weight 300# and haven't had a problem.

just to help keep the tailgate in position so it does not come off the hinge till you want it too.

Neither trucks have the tailgate step but one has the bracket and the other doesn't. Guess I won't worry about it.

No.. when you lift the tailgate to get it off the right side hinge, the bracket is not engaged..

this is just a safety so that the tailgate cannot move left/right while all the way down.

What about it. What are you asking. There is a plug behind the license plate if that's what you need to know.
