Any of you guys with aftermarket security alarms have weird things happen with the interior light and power locks?? I had a 'Rattler 300' (DEI product) installed on my truck as a gift last week. I'm having some issues with the interior light coming NOT on when the doors are opened, and the locks. First off, my truck came with the ASG (Advanced Security Group) from the factory..and maybe this is where the problem lies? The two systems fighting for control over each other? The Rattler system locks & unlocks the doors upon arm & disarm, and also upon ignition on, or off. Let me run down a quick scenario for y'all cause it's hard to explain what the system is doing...
If I exit my truck, arm the system (doors lock upon arming, interior light stays on until factory delay time), and leave the system armed for over an hour or so...when I come back out, disarm the system (doors unlock, interior light does NOT come on) and open up the PASSENGER door, the interior light will NOT come on. If I open up the DRIVER door first, then close it, then open the PASSENGER door the light will come on...but if I open the PASSENGER door, close it, then open the drivers door, the light will NOT come on. BUT...if I wait under an hour, and come out to disarm the system, open either of the doors, the light turns on!!
It drives me nuts at night!! Shouldn't the system turn on the interior light as soon as I disarm the system?!? Shouldn't the system turn OFF the interior light when I arm the system a-la ASG style??
The door lock problem is a lot easier to explain. If I use the door buttons to lock my doors when exiting my truck, close the doors, arm the system, come back over an hour or so and disarm the system, the doors will NOT unlock. Even disarming, arming, then disarming again won't get the doors to unlock. I have to use the key to unlock the doors. BUT, just like the interior lights, if I come back under an hour, the locks work just fine.
I'm going to take it back to Ziebart tomorrow to see if we can work the bugs out, but I'd like to know if anyone else has had similar problems, and what the fix was
who put your alarm in??? They should know how to make that work!! My best friend is an installer and he put mine in...he asked me about those same questions. It can be installed the right way if you have an installer worth a s**t!! Depending on the features; it has to be installed before or after certain relays on the factory wiring harness. The only downfall to auto arm on mine is the relay that cuts off the interior lights when a door has been open too long, the alarm will set automatically with the door still open. That can be defeated, but you end up with what you have. Go back to your installer as say "Fix it"! But some of those other problems you have.....just ain't right!!! Sounds like your mom installed it!
