t-500 vs. 17* hpop

i was pretty set on wanting to get a t-500 but after doing alittle more reading i was worried that it might not be a good choice if my original hpop is old/worn out since they just rebuild the one i give them. i have about 240,000 miles on my truck and i would assume that it is the stock hpop and nothing has been done to it but i just wanted to know what you guys think about it and if theres a big difference between the t-500 vs. getting a new 17 degree

Joey does just rebuild it and send it back. It get modified with all new internals. The only part of your old pump that gets used is the case.

Midnight Mods: Trip with the Terminator

A stock 17* could never keep up with a t500

I could tell a big difference with the t500 even with stock injectors. Its running my new combo quite well so far. My only upgrade will be dual t500 someday

ok thats good to know. also i was thinking of doing this upgrade as one of my earlier ones because to my knowledge there is no downsides to having a more powerful hpop correct?

I literally gained 5-7lbs boost by it. That will depend on how bad the old one is as well. My fuel economy...well it went from an all time high...to not so good. It ran much better tho!

Why would you lose fuel economy by it?

Having enough oil pressure to properly stroke the injectors fully.

I'm alittle confused, you lost fuel economy when you put the t-500 on because it didtor didn't have enough oil for injectors?

MIKE!? You don't honestly think Aaron would be influenced by the desire to feel the power of torque on his butt, do you? LOL

Even on the highway it went in the tank. IMO boost speaks for how much more the injectors could after. Before the ceiling was 22 but after it was 29-30. If that didn't change anything then explain how boost went up so much?
The t500 was a mod done by its self and I for one was very pleased.

Um... the T-500 IS a 17* pump. It's a highly modified one, of course, but as far as I know every single pump Joey builds comes out as a 17*.
