Everyday Carry - The Excursion Edition
Hey Folks,
So, as the title says what is it that you keep in your Excursion for those just-in-case scenarios?
Here is a quick rundown of what I usually have on hand.
Tire Tool / Crowbar
Tow Strap
Jumper Cables
Simple First Aid Kit
Latex Gloves
Hand Sanitizer
Duct Tape
Blanket
Sunglasses
Gloves
Hat
Ice Scraper
Flash Light
Taser
Folding Knife / Window Punch
Fixed Blade
Multi-tool
Lighter/Matches
Fire Extinguisher
Phone Chargers
Bottled Water
Energy Bars
That is all I could think of without taking full inventory. I know there are a few things I've missed and other things I'd like to carry.
I will also say that I REALLY like the box that kschroeder.DVM built here. I need to look into doing something like this in the future.

I didn't think of books or games to pass the time. Not a bad idea.
Hey agsmv1,
Nice. I was more thinking of things you leave in the Ex. That said, I've thought several times about those console safes.

Jumper cables, fire extinguisher, flash light, canned soup(much better than cold MRE's ), TP(an infantryman goes no where without TP), baby wipes, bottled water, knives, propane torch, plastic spoons, gallon of coolant, brake fluid, 3 quarts of oil, 2 quarts of ATF, unicorn bandaids, my wiring/tool junk box, playboy, my SCT tuner, AC/DC converter, tow strap, tie downs... Probably more... Lol

Hey Nate,
I don't currently but after figuring out I had airbags. Adding one was put on the list. I'd be good to have around any case.
Good list DU!
I forgot about my AC/DC converter, tie downs, and brake fluid.

I'm a bit of a survivalist... when I'm not in a depressive state. I plan more for what will happen if I get trapped in my truck due to weather or a single person accident. An MRE will feed me for up to 4 days depending on how the last 3-4 days were leading up to me needing it. I keep water in my truck at all times for my pup and I keep it by the case in the back seat. The main issue is boredom, after your phone dies and you've counted all the bumps on the back of the floor mats you have to do something to pass the time or you'll go stir crazy

I carry jumper cables, gloves, tire changing equipment, and AAA (plus my S&W MP 40 Shield)
Luckily for me I have a 6.0 in my Excursion - so I don't worry about breaking down on long trips.
Honestly, I routinely check under the hood and under the vehicle for signs of issues and try to fix things while they are minor/easy to do.
In 35+ years of driving I've only 'broken down' from flat tires - which I changed and continued on. I've had exhaust systems break (found an exhaust shop and drove to them and waited for them to open in the AM to have the muffler replaced) and required jump starts when hot/no-start ('80 firebird 120k miles). Alt/Battery across the street from a repair shop, pushed it into their lot had wife come get me, trans torque converter go bad ('97 Tahoe 197k miles) which I was able to drive to an AAMCO dealer to have replaced.
Never had an issue with my '90 S-10 Blazer (100k miles).
