Broken Leaf Spring

I broke a leaf on the passenger side of my 2007 Harley-Davidson edition F150. It's a 2/1 style leaf. In order to not have this happen again I'm thinking of upgrading to a 3/1 style leaf replacing both sides. 1900 lb spring vs 1500 lb spring.

What can I expect by making this change? Little stiffer ride? Less sag when towing? Little higher ride height?

I know that some F150s came with these springs from the factory.

Thanks in advance.

The ride quality won't change all that much, the 3/1 still is a factory replacement so even though you are going up in weight capacity you still aren't necessarily going to a Heavy Duty Leaf Spring.

What you probably will notice is that the rear end will sit up a little higher than before. With the different free arches and increased weight capacity you might see about an 1" of height over stock in the rear. Again, that won't be anything ridiculous because you have plenty of F150's rolling around with the 1,900 lbs springs in the rear.

The 1,900 lb springs would be a nice little upgrade to what you have on there right now. We have plenty of customer's who have the same springs as you and want to upgrade but don't want a true Heavy Duty spring that is rated at 2,400 lbs PER side.

If its like my 07 lariat if you want to keep the front spring bolts you will have to drop the exhaust on the passenger side and the fuel tank on the right side. Probably better off cutting the bolts off and putting them in the right way. I broke those cheap nylon fuel lines on top of my fuel tank when I dropped it and was unwilling to pay 1200$ to replace so I had my own made. You will just get a bit higher ride height in the rear end with the bigger set of leaf springs.

I agree on the bolt issue. Been There, Done That! Although I did not get to dropping my 36 gallon tank as that just looked like WAY TO MUCH work! Go to Ford, get new front bolts and nuts. Cut off old bolts( make sure you have good blades for your sawzall or you will be hating life!! Hardened bolts). Reverse direction of new bolts. Direction they were installed must have been spec'ed by the same meathead that came up with the 2 piece spark plug on 04 through early 08.

Ugh. Yea it sounds like a pain. Having a shop pull it apart tomorrow and install new leafs on both sides with the extra leaf. I took measurements of a few places before hand. Seems like the leafs were quite worn as there is pretty much no rake on the truck. Sits level with the front with the factory block in the back... Will probably look quite high with the new springs.

Yea it will sit high mine felt like you were noseplanting in the ground . As well mine developed a weird noise after changing the leaf springs not sure if the change of angle did it but 7 months later I ended up doing a pinion seal.

Well it brought the rake back to the truck, it was sitting level and now has about a 2.5-3" rake. So a little more then stock. It feels a lot more stiff just when hopping in the box. But driving it actually rides nicer, smoother. The ride was starting to get a little rough with the worn out old springs. Next week I'll hook my travel trailer to it for the real test. So far though I'm glad I upgraded to the 3/1 spring.
