Anyone else have trouble with Sampson (made in China) tires weather-checking?
Running 7-14.5 on my car trailer. All 4 have checked like crazy. One tire about 1 year old. Have a Carlisle I use for a spare which is probably 4 yrs old with no checking.
Thanks
I'll see the outfit today where I bought the tires - same place for last 12 years and where I get the trailer inspected. Sampson is used on a lot of trailers. Seems these just checked in a hurry. Like all tires seem to be doing now. Going to change axles and wheels this Summer. Hate to bite the bullet and get 4 new ones now but, better safe than sorry. Already had the exciting experience of changing a tire along I-81.
You've got that right, Bud.
But I've got some US made Goodrich tires starting to "dry rot"
A little history Molineux - Samson Tire Company
Sad that what started out in America....
RE: weather checking/dry rotting, some say due to not as much petroleum used in tires. Some say use of "tire shine" products dries out the tires. (Which I used a lot of trying to make my trailer look beautiful. Also ozone and UV, hence tire covers.

I use to run BFG's on everything......but since Michelen bought them, production is from china & mexico (IIRR) ......the ones I had in 2006 failed left & right....I have an old school set that is 20 years old (yeah I know), the real 6 ply steel/nylon belt.....looks like the day I bought them!
