Hi,
I have a 200 F-150 v-8 Titan 4.6 liter 4 wheel drive automatic.
This morning it started dropping off of the idle circuit. If I keep my foot on the gas I can keep it running. It I let off it stalls.
It runs fine at speed.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
It could be Idle Air Control solenoid (IAC)- based on your description of having to keep your foot on the gas to keep it running. Should be a 2-bolt mounted unit on the top of the motor on the drivers side if I remember correctly. Unbolt it and see if the pintle end is crusted with soot. if so clean it and reinstall (clean the bore that the pintle mates with also) and see if it cures it. Since it is also an electrical component, the solenoid may have failed. A simple electrical check can determine that.

I can add some extra information that may help if cleaning does not fix the issue.
Inside the IAC is a spring loaded diaphragm that acts as a dash pot function that slows the pintel down.
It does this by a small hole allowing air to pass in and out from behind.
If that hole is plugged it will not function normally.
This is located inside the large metal round tube out of access.
The indication of this is when starting, the motor fire ok and goes to high idle then immediately dies because the IAC cannot control and maintain the idle control.
I had the trouble as an intermittent cold stall. Cleaning did no good so took it apart to see why and found the hole plugged with soot.
Once you take it apart it's junk.
A new replacement solved the issue.
Good luck.
