im currently doing ball joints on my 2000 Ex and yes the tie rods have to come off the knuckle so when they are un done the whole thing drops out and its easier to get the hub nuts of the back with the tie rods off. its a bitch to do though
oops my bad you have a 2wd with no knuckles but i bet it will still be easier
