Hi guys i have some questions about my excursion that i cant find in the forums. i have seen and learned lots from reading in here so i figure its about time to join up and maybe help some people to
I have a 2000 Ford Excursion V10 4x4
my question is this
on the front axles there are seals on the outter axle shaft that may or may not be vacuum seals inside the knuckle to engage 4x4. however i have capped lines cause it was a pain in the ***.
are those seals a must to have or could i run with out them as i dont need vacuum anymore just using manual locks. what harm could come by not having that seal there and just let the axle run straight though ???
theres no oil to hold back so why a seal if i dont need it ??
my 4x4 dont work at this time but thats a different thread i think i need to find out why lol cause what goods an Ex that cant off road
Remember seeing this thread a while ago. Spent 10 Minutes looking for it. I was wondering the same thing today. My seals are messed up pretty bad and was wondering if they really had to be replaced if they were actually only vacuum seals. Would love to hear the answer. And if so wheres the cheapest place to get them?
Yup i did need vacuum so i bent the metal back into shape stuffed the old cracked one back in and sealed the outer rim with cawlking lol and filled the cracks with 5 min dollar store epoxie
