In my 07 E350, 5.4, will a bad coil cause a code? Right now it only has less than 19k. It is running rough but a quick scan on the AE didn't have any codes. This van sat for long periods causing the low mileage. Could the injectors or anything else be gummed up from sitting? With no codes it is hard to know where to start.
Not having Codes I would suspect just bad gas. I store a Car and it's a battle with Gas, Insects, and Animals. A nice drive and some fresh Gas goes along way! Be careful of Gas with (Ethanol) it's just a form of Alcohol and draws moisture right out of the air........I would check for (nests) in the Engine Cover and Air Cleaner.

The sound of the engine changed when it started to run rough. I took a quick look but didn't see anything. I changed the air cleaner a few weeks ago.
After setting on and off for such a long time you need a full (everything) service, I'd change the Oil ,Trans Fluid, Rear End, Coolant, Fuel Filter, Brake Fluid, Power Steering Fluid, hands on inspection of all the Wiring and Vacuum Lines for dry rot and teeth marks. I personally don't trust Tires over five yrs old regardless of mileage. A little (DryGas) might help too, and clean the MAF sensor and TB while your in there..............that's what I'd do.....
I would think it would trigger a code if it was a bad coil (I have had 2 so far) and even bad gas will trigger a code if you get enough misfiring happening. The gas could be gummed up. DryGas is alcohol and we already have plenty of alcohol in our gas so I really don't see adding more of it unless it will dissolve alcohol gunk from the old fuel. I am not sure if that would work well.
I might consider adding some Techron to the gas tank to clean the injectors and using up the gas in the tank, or even siphoning the gas out if there is not that much in the tank and adding a load of fresh gas to it.
