You missed your truck's birthday by a couple of months. J=September. Month codes run from A through M, skipping the letter I.

DSO means Domestic Special Order. If it were a special ordered truck, there would be an order number listed there to reference back to the factory paperwork. Since there is no number, it was not a special order. Whoever was doing the stamping that day included stars to signify nothing, rather than leave the space blank. It was more of a security thing. Different plants may have left it blank, used dashes or pound signs, etc., as we've seen in examples above.

1951 Mercury vin makes sense to me but my first two characters are PF.
Canadian52Merc, I looked at your other (intro) post and obtained the info you posted there.
MDA83AHN-30642
MD = Mercury M3
A = Standard trim level
83 = Pickup 114" WB
A = Stndard cab
H = Home - Windsor
P = 1951
Engine 1EE = 239 cu in V8 / 3 speed heavy Duty Transmission
Paint 24 = Mission Grey
Trim 14 = Red vinyl
MDA83BH51-9597
MD = M1
A = Standard trim
83 = Pickup 114" WB
B = Deluxe cab (note this truck does NOT have the original cab but a 48-50 cab
H = Windsor
51 = 1951
Engine 1E = 239 v8 standard 3 speed
Paint 91 = ? I don't have that one
Trim 13 = Two tone vinyl (deluxe)
So this truck has a different cab (48-50) and a different tailgate (possibly aftermarket)
MDA83BHP-21589
MD = M1
A = standard trim
83 = pickup 114" WB
B = Deluxe cab
H = Windsor
P = 1952
Paint 37 = Coral Flame Red
Trim 13 = Two tone vinyl
The Style code C2C-81B indicates a deluxe cab and chassis.
I would urge you to check the serial numbers stamped in the frames on all 3 trucks to verify, especially the one with the 48-50 cab. On Canadian trucks, the serial number should be on top of the frame rail, drivers side near the steering box.

1952 Mercury m100
Hello, I’m new to Ford and Mercury trucks I usually work on squarebodies, but don’t hate me I love all old cars and trucks.
I just picked this up and I’m so happy. I love the way this truck looks and where I am from it is rare. Chevys and Fords are abundant here. I just decoded the vin and I was wondering about this data plate.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks and have a nice day.
VIN: MD83BHP

Thank you for the response Abe. Appreciate the welcome.
I live in Los Angeles California, Lake Balboa to be exact. I used to think I did restorations but now they’re more like resurrections!
The PO was in the process of re-chroming most of the trim and interior pieces. I’d say it’s about 80% complete without delving into it. He has the horn button, Vintage AC set up, also has a little metal fan that goes on the pillar or dash?, all the wiring the gauges, glass, door ***** and handles, steering horn button, MERCURY letters for the hood trim and badging, the orig bench seat, bumpers and the runningboards although a tiny bit rust in the center of one, grill headlight bezels...whew I think that it’s...but there probably more. Oh and also came with a complete 302 and C4 transmission in the back there. I’m going to trade that to my neighbor down the street that has a 53 Ford with a v8 flat head stick set up. A little rust on the passenger rocker and that’s it. The floors are unbelievably clean and rust free. The frame is in excellent shape.

Welcome to the forum, Maurice! It's good to see another 52 Mercury deluxe cab pickup. It seems to be a fairly exclusive club. I've been searching for years for any kind of decode information on that tag and have come up empty. There's a couple things we can surmise, like the 81B after the C2C indicates a deluxe cab. And the 39 at the bottom of your tag corresponds with the color code on the vin tag at the center of the firewall/cowl. But that's all that's consistent or makes any sense. Here's mine. The numbers on the third line are different on about every tag I've run across.
One thing you might do is check your glass to see if it's original, and if it is it would have a date code on the "bug". It would look like this...
Let us know what you find. It might be best to start a new thread to keep all your info together.
