remote for 97 expedition

dazed & confused here...

Is there any of the newer remotes that will work with the 97 expedition? I see a lot of claims that others will work but I'm not sure.
the number on my original remote are:
FCC:GQ43VT4T
DOC:1470 K763
3165189

My original doesn't work despite trying to reprogram it and replacing the battery. Any insite into that? Maybe I just need to let the dog play with it for a while? (kidding)

Just throwing a tantrum because I lost my working spare
and seeing all those 97 remotes on ebay going for way more than the newer ones go for - yea they are harder to come by and supply & demand blah blah, but sheesh! .

Okay tantrum over.
Thanks!!!!

Just curious, how much do they go for on ebay? I was just at the local Ford dealer and a new remote for a 97 is $50 bucks!!!

PB

Yeah,
Our Ford Dealers are really raking it in on the remotes. They want $75.00 for the remote and $25 to program it. Considering how easy it is to program it and my 9 year old can do it - probably the dog can too.

The ones on ebay usually go for about $20-25 with shipping, maybe a little less depending on the day. Still better than $100.00 right...but my arguement here is, you can get two remotes for the newer expeditions starting at only $10.00 for the pair. I've seen them as low as $5 each. But I've also seen them as high as $30.
By the way, you can get chipped spare/replacement keys there too. Just as easy to program and a heck of a lot cheaper than from ford.

If you're trying to program another/unprogrammed remote/key, the owner's manual that came with my '97 Expy didn't help much.

My father owns an '03 F-250 and his owner's manual explains the whole process of reprogramming and many other features that the keyless entry system can do. If you can get ahold of a newer owner's manual, you should be able to figure out how to program an old key/remote.

When I bought my Expy, the owner gave me 2 working remotes and one that had been lost, then the other 2 reprogrammed and the original didn't work. Using my dad's owner's manual, we got all 3 keys/remotes working.

Good luck!
